Cancellation of the 5th European Kiwanis Junior Meeting in Freiburg, Germany
Dear Kiwanis Friends,
the organisation team -Kiwanis Junior Club Freiburg TriRhena, Representatives of KC Freiburg-Herdern (not present)- Lt. Governor Jürgen Kern, Committee Chairman on SLP Winfrid Mirau - preparing the 5th European Kiwanis Junior Meeting in Freiburg met June 24. for the fifth time, discussing the current status of planning and the status of registrations.
The outcome of this meeting had one bad and one good message:
The bad news is:
The team took the decision to cancel the "5th European KJ Meeting" as we had only a handful of registered participants, after a 14-day extension of the booking deadline.
This event was planned as a unique gathering of European Kiwanis Juniors under the motto: “sharing experience, fun and friendship”. We offered the opportunity to meet European President Stefan Huber, European Vice President Giampaolo Ravasi, Governor elect. Germany Peter Lux, they all had confirmed their coming. We expected, based on past experience, a significant larger number of participants, than bookings received until June 24.
Our expectations have not been fulfilled.
We therefore do not want to embarrass those Kiwanis Juniors, who were keen to attend the ”5th European Kiwanis Junior Meeting” expecting a large international Kiwanis Junior event, where they could meet new Kiwanis friends and gain new friendships. Even the unique meeting program, developed by the Freiburg Kiwanis Juniors would hardly be in a position to offset a possible disappointment about the low participation.
Taking this decision was not easy, but it had to be taken as at this point in time the temporary contract for the event facilities had expired and we did not want to run into any cost obligations.
The good message is:
The Kiwanis Junior Club of Freiburg TriRhena would be very glad to host those Kiwanis Juniors who booked and payed already the long weekend, 21. to 24. August in
Freiburg, and are still being prepared to come for a visit. The KJ Friends in Freiburg offer to assist and advise on interesting sightseeing tours around Freiburg (incl.
France and Switzerland).
The self-contribution for this weekend will be the same as shown in the invitation.
Please apologise for the inconvenience the cancellation of the meeting may cause, but you know yes, the Kiwanis trails are full of surprises and sometimes inscrutable.
